🚨This second "summer 2025" ORANGE Heatwave Alert
Ended Tuesday August 19th, 2025 🚨
During a routine CCFF-RCSC patrol, the Roquebrune 6 crew was halted around 3:00 p.m. by individuals at the Bougnon Pass in the town of Roquebrune-sur-Argens.
They reported that a family member, who had been missing since 10:00 a.m. and whose car was parked in the Archery parking lot at the pass, had disappeared.
The crew radioed the Roquebrune leader, who then notified the Municipal Police.
They emphasized that the missing person suffered from health issues that could cause disorientation, according to the family.
While Initial searches proved unsuccessful, The Gendarmerie was subsequently called in, accompanied by one of their drone teams and a canine unit.
With the agreement of the Prefecture and the ADCCFF of Var, crews from neighboring municipalities were swiftly deployed, along with all available RCSC-CCFF resources from Roquebrune-sur-Argens.
In total, 49 individuals participated in this mission, including 39 volunteers, 5 from the Gendarmerie, 5 firefighters, a dog, and a firefighter drone. The team was led by a SDIS officer, three non-commissioned officers, and a volunteer operations director, Mr. Francis Lemoine (Roquebrune Leader).
Around 8:00 p.m., after drone and dog searches yielded no results, two CCFF-RCSC teams from Roquebrune set out on foot to scout the trails. Other teams were preparing to depart.
At 8:12 p.m., a radio transmission announced that one of the RCSC teams had made contact with the missing person, who was disoriented and dehydrated, believing they had spent two days in the mountains ("it was a hard night," they said). This team brought the individual back to the temporary operational headquarters at Col du Bougnon to be treated by VSAV and SDIS medical personnel.
All teams disengaged around 9:00 p.m., after which a well-deserved snack was offered to everyone present.
We would like to express our gratitude to the municipalities and all the volunteers from Fréjus, Puget-sur-Argens, Saint-Raphaël, Sainte-Maxime, Le Muy,
and Plan de la Tour, as well as those from Roquebrune-sur-Argens, who once again made themselves available at short notice.

This Thursday, France commemorates the 80th anniversary of the Liberation on May 8, 1945.
This solemn tribute, observed both nationally and locally, honors "all those who died for the Liberation of France."
The ceremony took place this morning at the War Memorial in the village, in the presence of Mr. Jean Cayron, Mayor of Roquebrune-sur-Argens, who emphasized, among other things,
the duty of remembrance; Ms. Julie Lechanteux, Member of Parliament for the 5th constituency of the Var; Ms. Martine Arenas, Vice-President of the Departmental
