Seventy active and retired volunteers comprise the CCFF of Roquebrune-sur-Argens, dedicating themselves to 100% prevention and on-the-ground information initiatives.
Throughout the summer, CCFF volunteers patrol the forest and along major roads.
In the forest, they ensure compliance with:
- Traffic restrictions, especially on days when the Mistral wind blows.
- Fire bans, particularly on impromptu barbecues.
Near major roads, they:
- Monitor for potential fires.
- Respond to incipient fires.
Additionally, CCFF teams are responsible for closing forest areas on days of very severe and exceptional risk.
Information that must flow to the public about safety measures to combat fire risk is provided year-round and during patrols.
When a fire breaks out in the municipality, CCFF volunteers guide the population to safe areas and position themselves at the entrances to the forests to minimize the risk of accidents and facilitate the work of emergency services.
The volunteers' thorough knowledge of the terrain enables them to assist emergency services during fires.
In the event of a disaster, the CCFF ensures the guidance of emergency services and performs numerous missions to support various responders.
They preserve fire origin scenes until the gendarmerie's investigation services intervene.
In the event of a disaster, the CCFF provides logistical support to emergency services, including food and water supply. The population is also provided with drinking water through the distribution of bottles. During the dramatic events of June 2010, nearly 25,000 bottles were distributed. Received at the Grande Bastide Command Post, they were then loaded into vehicles and distributed on the ground by our teams according to the urgency of needs, neighborhood by neighborhood.
CCFF Teams are present at sporting events taking place in the mountains, ensuring the safety of runners and organizers.
Among the sporting events, we will note the Roc d'Azur, the Lucioles hike, the 100 km from Lachens to the Sea or the Adventure Raid.
